Who am I?
I’ve had requests from various people asking me to do a blog, so finally, I have a few minutes to myself and I’m going to start the journey into the world of social media. I used to feel a bit like hiding from social media when my kids were younger, but recently I've done a few tweets and Instagram posts and I’m quite enjoying this process of connecting with the world again.
So, I’m going to keep this one short… just a little background about myself for those of you who don’t know me. I’m in my 40s, I have three children and I’m embarking on a new business with my husband Rob called Spark+Volt. It's an online hub selling T-shirts, air fresheners and other merchandise for everyone who loves electric cars. Everything is designed by Rob, who is excited about being able to return to his true love – good design.
The business is a real passion for us - it allows us to express to the world our love of electric cars and our desire to leave behind us a planet worth living on. So all our T-shirts are eco-friendly and made from recycled or organic, sustainably sourced cotton and our cardboard air fresheners use recycled plastic tags, etc - we will be doing as much as possible to be as eco-friendly with all our products.
Saying that, we aren’t a totally crazy eco-family – we do what we can and are learning along with everyone else about how we can be better and do better – I hope one day we will be that crazy eco-family, along with the rest of you… ;oD
So, currently, I’m editing the second episode of our YouTube channel EV News, which is dedicated to all things electric vehicle related, from reviews and interviews to the latest EV headlines. The most challenging thing is trying to get used to being in front of a camera – not my most comfortable place - but I learnt many years ago, when I used to lecture at Bournemouth University, that if you do it over and over again, it becomes much easier and then you can relax and start to enjoy it! Luckily I feel like that’s happening quicker this time around. If you want to check it out, you will find us here.
Next blog post, I’ll be talking specifically about our own electric car – the Kia Soul EV – and how this works for our family of five – it’s our only car and we love it, we even drove it to Disneyland Paris in the Christmas holidays last year. It was a long journey but worth it – the bonus was we could park right at the front of the car park nearest to the entrance and they charged our car for free whilst we were playing in the park!!! Amazing!!!
Until next time, drive safe,
Natalie
